My Astronaut-looks like Barney

Tried to make her suit pink but instead she came out like dipped in magenta chocolate! haha looks fabo!

Google Earth= AWESOME!

GOOGLE EARTH:

This by far was my favorite experience so far in this class. Google earth is amaizing. I have used local.live in the past but this takes the cake.

So, Since I miss being on vacation I decided to search Cabo Mexico first to see if I could see some of the sights we saw and places we went. Below is arial view of the arch and lovers beach. We took a boat cruise out of this marina and I can actually tell the exact dock we wer at...truly amazing!
Even cooler there are points, these blue boxes you can click on and see actual pictures. awesome
Below is a pic of the arch.
Next I wanted to see where are hotel was and I knew it was between two cities Jose de Cabo and Cabo San Lucas. So I zoomed out in order to see both.
Next I found the spot we went snorkeling and the beach we went to, and unbelievably the boat we went on was parked in the spot we stopped! crazyyyy!! I figured out how to mark things. They told us the playboy mansion cabo was on the point, I pin marked it.
Next I found our hotel Royal Solarius and clicked on a few of the pics to make sure it was.
All three points from a far.

Next I searched for my old place in Hollywood Florida! and found it!

and pinned my apt....yes i had ocean view! hahha
This shot shows how close to Miami it was.

On a more boring note...my parents house. I know this pic is recent because I see their boat covered with a blue tarp for winter.

Ares Rocket

First i watched the video and took a screne shot of the rocket.

Then I researched the Nasa website to see what it was supposed to look like.

Then I created a similar scene.

Adding some extras.

IBM Report-HW Week #6

Virtual Worlds -Real Leaders What will the future bring???

This IBM article on online gaming gives us insight to the future regarding leadership roles in the workplace. It explains how online gaming can contribute valuable lessons to real life leadership in a corporate environment as businesses become more global, fast paced and competitive. Three out of every four players that were surveys by IBM in this study said that the techniques and approaches found in these online games enhanced their leadership in the workplace.

Today there are over 73 million online gamers who spend on average 22 hours per week "gaming" mostly from the age of 18-49 and a few more males than females but not by much. Specifically World of Warcraft has over 8 million players all over the world. Online gaming, know as massively multiplayer online role-playing games (MMORPGs), show us how leaders come to be and how they operate in certain environments. The defintion of (MMORPGs) is the following from the article.

"MMORPGs are a unique and evolving area of online entertainment. They can bring together millions of different players who assume digital personalities known as avatars. Within these online games, each of which is constructed with different rules and goals, players interact with each other, form relationships, join guilds or in-game corporations, and carry out complex and
collaborative missions. Most popular games include World of Warcraft,™ Eve Online,™ and EverQuest.™ andVirtual social worlds, like Second Life.™ "

So how are gaming leaders established? They establish themselves by taking the lead. Gaming leaders are quick decision makers and more comfortable with risk and failure, this probably because the risk is not real. Individuals who might not assume a leadership role, are more prone to speak up in a virtual world where they are masked with an avatar. Leadership roles are assumed quickly in MMORPGs and are constantly changing with the tasks at hand. Most MMORGs are comprised of incentives (or rewards) and missions. Incentives are gained by completing these missions. Sometimes these missions are known as raids, which are attacks by a group of avatars with a common goal.

The elements of the online world that are easily integrated into to the business world are structure, skills and incentives -the concept of failure, not so much. Risk and failure are tolerated even encourage in virtual gaming even necessary to succeed, failure is just a part of the game not a permanent black mark or career killer. In real life its quite different. If your avatar died in a virtual game, all you have to do is start over, maybe wait a few minutes to resurrect. Thats it! In the real world in a workplace environment risk is still sometimes necessary yet scarier because it is real, but not as drastic, no one loses their lives (well some financial professionals may beg to differ lol).

It will be interesting to see what the years to come bring when it comes to onilne gaming, virtual worlds and workplace leadership. Some even believe that in the future resumes could include online gaming experience.

WoW Gaming Homework #6

Playing World of Warcraft online

This was me after I picked my character and her outfit! The navigation was very easy for me because it is very similar to second life.

Here i met up with another player i think.

I explored the map function and learned that there are many many lands in wow. It seems like a very complex game.

This was when I died at first I didn't know how to get revived! I made it to level 2 by completing some tasks for some guys who wanted me to kill some wolves and bring him the meat. I killed 8 wolves and brought the meat to him.

Me crossing a bridge, just a random shot. It was difficult for me to get snapshots of me killing the wolves and bad guys with red bandannas, because I was concentrating on not getting killed. I finally learned that if I found my corpse I could revive my self with out giving up 25% of my stuff. After moving up to level two my next task I found was killing 10 guys across the river with red bandannas but I only could kill one they kept killing me!

Another shot of me roaming around loosing for the next task. The guy with purple ring around him was another player with a crazy look. It was hard to figure out where the guys with the yellow exclamation points were at? These seemed to be the guys that gave me tasks to complete. Grey exclamation over guys was for higher level players.

Some crazy duels were going on here! Things were getting crazy!

Next I found this mailbox when I clicked on it, it was actually a way to leave messages for others I believe.

Finally I found this bar inside an inn and had some sweet rum. Very cool
